Popppies On Action Painting

This is the action painting I did for IMT the other day. It is screaming orange flowers at me. So I've decided to do poppies. This is the next step taken. Hopefully I'll finish it tomorrow and post the end result then.

Action Painting

Here is my entry for IMT action painting. I have been wanting to try this for a while. I took out my tub of acrylic paints, canvas, paint brushes, rollers, water bottle, tissue paper, and went outside. The first layer of colors are the yellows and light browns and a dab of off white. I splattered and squirted in all directions, then I took the brayer and lightly rolled in one direction. The next layer is the blues, greens and reds. I tore tissue paper and smooched it over the entire canvas. Then rolled over this layer very very lightly because the brayer wanted to grab the tissue paper. I let this dry and then splattered more red to give another dimension. All in all I like the way it turned out. I like the tissue paper effect. It was a lot of fun and will probably use this technique in more of my backgrounds. At this point I'm not sure what else I well do to it, but I know it is not finished. I want to add more elements. I will figure that out as I go.

Drama

Boy it has been crazy lately. Too much drama going on. I'm not too interested in the next challenge at IMT. It is optical illusions. I don't want to spend time on a subject that my heart is not into. I'm doing more at MADatc. It is a fun group and all, but I need to focus. I really wanted to take the online class with Paulette Insall but missed it. Now I'll have to wait untill who knows when.
I have numerous unfinished projects that need attention. My sisters and I need to clear out my moms house by the end of February. We moved her into an assisted living home a few months ago. Now we need to sell her house to pay for the new living arrangements. I do not think we will make it. Plus there is no way we will be able to have any contracts written up by then. I just hope the people who want to buy it will understand.
There is drama going on at MADatc which I think is silly but I'm new, so I have nothing to say about it.
My friend is mad and upset with me. I'm very tired of it. Everything has to be about her. She has to be the center of attention but does not realize it. She is also very controlling. I think I'm just going to let this one slide. I'm not going to get involved. I will let it go a few weeks and see if she is still mad then. I really hate drama. People get too offended about the silliest things. Life is too short. But I find myself constantly dealing with unhappy people. And it is usually the same ones.
Now that I got this downer out of my system maybe I can get some work done. I want to post something fun and silly to lighten it up. My dog Max always makes me laugh. He does not try to be funny. He is just a funny looking dog. He is part lab and part basset. Get a little giggle from this silly dog Max.

Faces

I was very glad this weeks challenge was to do faces, because it is exactly what I have been wanting to improve on. It took me a few days to come up with a drawing that I liked. Then after drawing it I still needed to collage it. So here it is, my submission to the challenge at Inspiremethursday. It is really a conglomeration of many things. First off it is a watercolor pencil drawing layered on on all kinds of paper, with stamped images and pen and ink doodles. Then there is the glaze for the finishing touch. All and all I am very happy with how the face turned out but not too happy with the collage effects. I love to collage but I had a hard time getting this effort to work. But I know I have learned a few things and will do some things differently next time. At this point I was more concerned with the face. This project was totally a practice trial and error job. To me it is very messy and I want to get a more professional finished look when completed.

Mosaics

I love doing mosaics. This frame is done with broken china pieces. The opening has broken mirror tiles in it. It is hard to tell because the scan does not show it off very well.

These are just a few of the mosaic pieces I have left. I used to do mosaics on vintage furniture like vanities and armoires. I sold some and gave some away. I have some clay pots and of course I have my biggest masterpiece, my fireplace. I did it in broken china, tile & nik naks. I wish I could take a good picture of it but the photos I have do not give it justice. I thought these two mosaic pieces would be a nice submission for the glass challenge. I know it is not glass but china and mirror are close.
