Inspration & Cooking Again

I went to see the movie "Julie Julia" this summer and fell in love with it. I liked it so much I asked for the cookbook "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" for Christmas.
The making of this book by Julia Child is the inspiration for the movie. It's a cute movie and well worth seeing if you have not seen it yet. Meryl Streep did a wonderful interpretation of Julia Child.
I got two copies of this cookbook for Christmas, lol. Both my son and my husband got it for me. My son loves for me to cook for him...me thinks I know now why he got it me. He will get the leftovers to take back to school.
First of all I'm not that great of a cook. I can cook but it has never been a passion. I can follow a recipe...wink wink. I usually change the recipe to my liking....adding a little more of this and omitting an ingredient all together. However I have a few recipes that I make very well.
I'm probably like most women of today. It's much easier to buy prepared meals or just go out for dinner. I know my biggest problem was trying to come up with something new each and every evening for the family. I got so burnt out and resentful. I got to the point where I could not stand to cook. I hated it. Now that the kids are gone and it's just me and the hubby it's even harder to cook for two. But anyway something in this movie has inspired me to want to cook again.
This book gives detailed instructions so I'm looking forward to at least..... attempt to learn a few new things.
After skimming through the pages I think that I will definitely need a few new pots and casseroles. Yea! Now a good reason to get rid of some of my old pots and pans I've been using for years.
I have to say the book is a little intimidating. I am going to take my time and do the recipes correctly. I want to savor the experience. I'm not going to blog about it like in the movie....maybe.... if something turns out. hehe.

Altered Art Journal Letter Z

"What does it mean?

Yes! I did it! The final page to my altered art journal. Working on this journal has been a rewarding and enlightening journey to say the least. This journal was to showcase through each letter in the alphabet little bits and pieces of information about myself. Its a diverse selection of things I like and words that describe me the best. I was hoping to develop and define a style that I felt I lacked. I wanted to use a variety of artistic techniques, some I already knew and some I would learn along the way. But the main reason to do this journal was I wanted something artsy to hand down to my children. Hopefully they will get a greater idea of who this crazy lady they call mom really is.
I started this journal over a year ago. When I started it in 2008 I was in the beginning stages of my new life being home with myself to do as I please. I had only been blogging a few months and I did not know much about the world wide web. I was really green, so green I did not know much of anything that had to do with computers or web sites or surfing the web, uploading, downloading, linking this to that, html codes, pixels, etc, but I'm so proud of all I've accomplished. I've come a long way baby!

Now a little about this page. My maiden name is Zissa, which is perfect for the last page of my journal. The name "Zissa" has always intrigued me. We do not know what it means. My great grandfather on my dads side was adopted. He lost his parents while on the journey to America from Czechoslovakia in the late 1800's. My family does not know much about him or his adopted parents. We don't know if he kept his own last name or took the adopted parents name. The name Zissa does not have a meaning in Czech. It's so mysterious and such an unusual name. I want my children and grandchildren to always remember it.

Holiday Apron

Remember when I said I was in the mood to bake...well I decided I had to have a Christmas apron to cook in first. I spent most of the day yesterday sewing this lovely thing. Now I think I'm going to have to give it to my bf for Christmas. I think it turned out really cute. She likes to cook. It will be perfect for her. I wanted it to have that vintage look, like from the 50's. I did not have too many choices in the vintage catagory at the fabric store. Why can't they sell the stuff people want? Do you know what I mean? There are tons of fabrics in these stores but nothing that I like. If you go in the Bernina center they have all of these cute patterns for vintage aprons, purses, etc, but they don't stock the same cute vintage looking material. These fabrics were the closest thing to vintage I could find. Oh well enough venting. It turned out the way I wanted it to.
Today the weather turned cold and dreary. A perfect day to bake some holiday cookies.

Christmas Preparations

Here is a sweet vintage postcard I found on google images. I had every intention of using it in my digital work but I can't seem to find the time to do any art. I've been a bad blogger lately as well. I guess there is too much going on. I had a custom order last week so yuppie! The customer wanted 6 charms cut from the same plate. I did that for her, so I feel a nice sense of accomplishment. I've been Christmas shopping and have most of it done. I still have 5 more people on the list to buy for. My mom is the hardest. I'm really having a hard time deciding what to get her this year. She is 90 years old and lives in an assisted living home. Any ideas?
Today was such a beautiful day out. I took advantage of the nice weather and cut back all my perennials that got scorched from the freeze. We usually don't get such hard freezes so early, so I'm not used to doing this kind of yard work before Christmas. My husband said he would string the lights while I cut back the dead plants. He then became extremely frustrated with the stupid lights because, well you know Christmas lights, so I finished it up for him. Keep in mind we did not string near the amount we normally do. I'm letting it go. No pressure. I'm really happy with what we have up.....One tree wrapped with a few strands of lights and my Christmas critters, which is what I call my lighted reindeer, snowmen, and penguin.
This week I really have to finish buying the gifts. I want it all done and everything wraped so I can start baking. I'm in the mood to bake. I'm going to rummage through my recipies and pull out my favorites. My husband and I will be hosting the Christmas Eve party this year for his side of the family. Christmas day is for our immediate family, so I only have to cook for my kids and husband on Christmas day. Then we are off to Yoakum the 26th to celebrate with my side of the family. I get tired just thinking about it.
I'm not sure why I'm rambling on about this. I guess I'm wondering what everyone's plans are and how you all celebrate. Let me know what you will be doing this year for Christmas. Leave a comment here for this post or blog about on your own blog and then let me know so I can read it.

Gruene Hall

Saturday we went to Gruene Texas with friends for the ceremonial Christmas lighting and the arrival of Santa Claus. Gruene Hall is a famous honky tonk in the tiny town with the same name. It's a cute historical district not far from San Antonio basicly in New Braunfels. Gift shops, antique shops and great restuarants make up the street that is Gruene Texas. There's not mush else to it.
Texas has a lot of famous honky tonks but Gruene's claim to fame is a portion of "Michael" was filmed in the dance hall. I loved John Travolta in this movie. He played Michael the Archangel. I think this movie and Pulp Fiction really propelled him along in his career. Really cute movie to rent if you have not seen it.
The Christmas panic is starting to set in. I have so much shopping to do. I know, I know, I need to make lists and stay focused. I try every year to start early but some how it does not matter. I always panic. This year I'm making a promise to not get my panties in a wad, not worry. It does not have to be perfect. Ha! We will see how long this last!
Good Luck Y'all!

No Snow For S.A.

Align Center
No snow for S.A. It snowed all around us. When the front came across Texas it parted like the Red Sea as it rolled over San Antonio. I watched on the radar. It slowly made it's way across the state leaving a wintry mixture of ice and snow, but as it came over us there was nothing. The cold snap brought temperatures down to 25 last night. Brrrrrrr!
It's a nice change. I enjoyed staying in my pj's all day, curled up under the many layers of blankets and comforters. I had my lap top and sketch book, so with thoughts of snow this is what I came up with. I designed a snowflake and made it into a digital sheet. Sketched a couple of snowman people and Christmas trees.
I don't know how you people who live in the north stand it. I feel like hibernating. I don't want to leave the house. Heck! I don't want to get out of bed. Like I said it's a nice change, but I could not deal with this all winter. It's going to get back into the 70's Tuesday. I'll be ready for the warmth.
Tonight we are going to take in some Christmas festivities. Tomorrow I want to see New Moon with my daughter. I hope the weather is just how you want it wherever you are.
Have a nice weekend!
Hugs,
Charlie

It's beginning to look a lot like Chrstmas! The tree is up and decorated. The house is decorated. Now my husband needs to string lights outside on the house. He really hates doing this little chore because he does not like heights. It probably wont happen this weekend anyway because we are supposed to get snow! Yeah! That is what they are predicting! Hmmmmph! I'm really a skeptic. It never snows here, and if it does it will not stay on the ground. I think our weathermen have nothing better to say, so they get everyone excited about the possibility of snow. It's been cold and dreary but it has not even gotten in the 30's yet. If it snows I'll let you know. It's a big deal in San Antonio. If it snows the whole city will shut down. No one knows how to drive in snow or ice, so no one goes to work. It's really comical.. It's a good excuse to stay home as far as I'm concerned . I don't know how to drive in it! It would be exciting if it snowed, but I wish it would wait until Christmas. I've never had a white Christmas. I'm not holding my breath in hopes, but secretly I'm crossing my fingers.
Snow in San Antonio in early December!!!! What happened to global warming?
Stay tuned.
Hugs,
Charlie

Altered Art Journal Letter Y

"Yin Yang"

Here is letter y in my altered art journal. There are not very many describing words starting with the letter Y. I had a hard time deciding what to do. Y is not an easy letter to do, so I settled on yin yang. I like the concept it represents of harmony and balance, black and white, the male and female meanings and so on. I like the simple black and white symbol for yin yang. This is my doodle interpretation for yin yang. It has a little zentangle applied. Seems like zen and yin should go together. I made my symbol for yin yang a square instead of a circle. I tried to keep it symmetrical and simple.
I did not get to put out all the Christmas decorations. I have so much. It's really crazy and I'm not using most of the tree ornaments. I sent a lot of boxes back up in the attic. I did manage to get the front door decorated. Hopefully I'll get some pictures up tomorrow.
It's so rainy and cold here it's weird. I'm not used to this cold weather. I don't want to go outside but it's time for me to workout. YuK! I have to go so I can eat and drink all I want. I wish! heehee!
Y'all have a good day!
Hugs,
Charlie

Christmas Spirit

Since it is Cyber Monday I'm listing the rest of my broken china pendants and charms in hopes of stirring up some activity on the ole Etsy site.

I'm finally in the Christmas spirit. Could I be in the spirit because a norther came in last night and dropped the temperatures? It's cold, cloudy and drizzling. I'm not sure why this is considered Christmas weather. Hmmmm... I think I'm in the Christmas spirit because I got my tree up. Yea! I still have to decorate the inside of the house and string the outside lights. I wont be working outside today, however. It's too cold!!!! burrrr. It's a chilly 53! Ha ha I know I'm a whimp. I'm so excited about my tree! It is sooooo gorgeous!
I'll be working on wreaths and garlands today, putting away all the fall decorations and sitting out all of my Christmas nic naks. Stay tuned. I hope to get some shots of my tree. Did I say I was so excited about my tree?!
Life is good. I am so blessed.
Hugs,
Charlie

French Poodle

The challenge for Inspiration Avenue's weekly contest this week is French.
Many ideas came floating into my head when I stared to do this project. I could not decide at first. I had so many choices. For example; the Eiffel Tower, french maidens, wine, croissants, fleur de lis, toile, castles, Marie Antoinette, perfume, Arc De Triomphe, Nortre Dame, Paris, and French Fries, are just a few. LoL.,....whew, I'm sure I'm missing some. I had not been in my studio all week so it really felt good to draw something, to create again. I've been wanting to draw this little poodle for a long time. It's a card, blank inside and will be available on my etsy.
I hope you all are having a great weekend and enjoying what's left of the holidays.
Hugs,
Charlie

Happy Thanksgiving

"Groom's Cake"

Are you scratching your head and wondering what the ????? First of all the wedding was gorgeous. I had a great time! My feet hurt from all the dancing. I have parts of my body aching I did not know exsisted. Why is it only women like to dance? We like to dance with each other and we don't care. As soon as "Brick House" started playing droves of us girls rushed to the dance floor. We dance the line dances, to the left to the left, to the right to the right. We will do the "cotton eyed joe" the bunny hop, the chicken dance and we will even two step together. It does not matter. We laugh and giggle and wiggle our booties. All the while the men are sitting there watching us like we are nuts. Occasionally you will get the good one to dance with you, like my husband who dances country western very well. He does a good waltz too.
Anyway I had a wonderful time, but back to that groom's cake. I know you will never guess in a million years. It has something to do with "Lost". Nuf said.

"Starting Early"

I am really behind so I will not be posting again until after Thanksgiving.
Everyone have a very
Happy Thanksgiving

Romance

When I think of romance I think of Paris. Oh how I would love to go there one day! Visiting Pairs is one of my biggest dreams. I adore anything and everything that has to do with Paris, and sweet, dear Marie Antoinette.
This is my entry for the weekly challenge at Inspiration Avenue "Romance".
I know this is a little early but I will be gone this weekend. I have a wedding to attend.
I love weddings. I can not wait to get all my work finished so I can start packing.
We will stop in San Marcos on the way to visit my son in college and take him out to eat. I miss him so much. Then we are on the road again to Austin, Round Rock and then Georgetown. Now I have to figure out what to wear to the wedding. Yikes! I have not tried on the dress I want to wear in a while. I sure hope it fits!
Y'all have a great weekend! See you next week!
Hugs,
Charlie

Pink Rose Pendant

Here is one of the broken china pendants and charms I have been working on. It is cut from a vintage plate. I started making these for my upcoming shows. I thought I had two shows scheduled in December.....but now it may only be one. I'm not sure I got my application in on time. I was not going to list these in my Etsy shop at first but now I have a change of heart. Why not!
So for now it is back to my studio to finish a little soldering and then to the grocery store for food.
Since it is only my husband and I, I really do not cook much but we do eventually run out of food and I've been putting it off way too long.
Stop by Inspiration Avenues blog to check out the weekly challenge.
Everyone have a great Tuesday!

Good morning everyone! I have some exciting news today. Yesterday I was accepted to Inspiration Avenue Etsy Team. I'm looking forward to joining this group. I believe it will be a great fit. All the members are so gracious and friendly. I'm sure it will not only be fun but rewarding.
Above is my new side bar logo I designed for Inspiration Avenues team blog. I spent most of the evening working on it while watching the stupid Cowboys loose to the Packers. Gaaaaa that was a terrible game......if you are a Cowboy's fan!Oh well, it's only a game!
I had a fabulous weekend! Saturday was our 28th wedding anniversary. I can not believe we have been married for that long! Where does the time go?
For our anniversary my husband and I decided to buy a new bed. A new frame/head board not mattress set. We have had the same frame which was never anything special since we got married. We bought it cheap back then because we were poor and young and stupid. I'm not sure why it took us so long to decide we needed a new bed frame because it should have been traded out a long time ago. I've been looking here and there for the past couple of weeks and narrowed it down to what I thought I wanted. Saturday was time to take the hubby. I ended up with something completely different and I'm so glad. He always lets me spend more money then if I purchase it on my own. (wink wink). I've learned over the years. lol. He's a keeper. But anyway we went home and spent the day rearranging the bedroom because we were not sure if it would fit. Oh my gosh have you looked at the headboards these days! They are huge! They can fill up a whole wall! It's going to work! We went back Sunday, ordered my new bed and night stand. It will be here next Tuesday. Yea! I can't wait.
Y'all have a great day!
Hugs,
Charlie

Mosaic Cross

Here is the mosaic cross I've been working on. It is for sale and I'll be listing it on Etsy.
I'm also working on charms made out of vintage broken china. I have yet to take pictures of them and what a tedious process. Lighting is always an issue. I usually take my shots outside because I like natural lighting. This morning was so foggy. Needless to say my pictures were not coming out right. I'm wondering if Friday the 13th has anything to do with it.
I think I'm calling it a day and going shopping lol!
Y'all have a good Friday the 13th!
Don't get into any trouble.
Charlie

Deja Vu

"Deja Vu"

A sneak peak of what I've been working on. This is Cinda the witch. She is the witch in my Halloween art card. Can you guess why I named the painting Deja vu? It's very easy. You have all seen her before, only in another art form. I really like the way she turned out.
She will be listed on Etsy soon.
My muse has taken me in another direction. I started a mosaic cross yesterday. Today I'm going to grout it. A few weeks ago I made a few broken china pendants and I assume being around my old dishes stirred up the desire to make another mosaic. The worst part is my fingers get cut up from the shards and extremely dry. Ouchy!
Well, I have a lot to do today and my husband is home working in his office. I can hear him yelling at the printer again. Poor guy! This is the second printer in less then a week. I think he's going to have to send this one back too.
Oh joy, joy, joy!
Y'all have a wonderful creative and productive day!
Hugs,
Charlie

Margarita's Day

"Mission Concepcion"

My friend and I visited the San Antonio Missions Friday. It was her birthday and she wanted to do something different. I'm always up for different. I enjoy outings such as these, especially with my dear friend "Margarita Chachacha". She is always so busy with her work. I had to force her to take the day off. The weather was beautiful, sunny and mild, temps in the 70's. It gave us a good reason to drive around with the top down in my beautiful new car. We were in heaven. I felt like I was in another world and yet so close to home!
San Antonio has five missions. The Alamo is the most famous, but we did not visit the Alamo. We've seen it numerous times and it's smack dab in the middle of downtown with too much traffic and way too many tourist.
We visited Mission San Jose, Mission Concepcion, Mission
San Juan Capistrano, and Mission Espada. I had never in my 27 years of living here in San Antonio gone to the two smaller ones Espada and San Juan.

"Mission San Juan on top and Mission Espada on the bottom"

They look very much alike. I have to say they are not my favorites but I'm glad I went to see them.
Check that off my list.

Mission San Jose

These two pictures above are from Mission San Jose. It is much larger and maybe the second most visited. I remember going to this one on field trips with my children. It definitely has more to offer. The photo above of the statues are above the front entrance of the mission.

The one thing that I found interesting is that San Jose and Concepcion are nestled in quiet little neighborhoods. All the missions are on the south side which is not the developed side of San Antonio. This being the main reason I felt I was in another world. All in all it was a fun and pleasant adventure. I'm so blessed to be able to do this sort of thing. Thanks Margarita for coming up with this idea.
I hope you all have enjoyed my little tour of the missions. Maybe one day you too can come visit.
Hugs,
Charlie

X Factor

"I am the x factor. I have no control. My muse leads me to create. Where she will take me I do not know."

The pair of shoes are a transfer. I'm not sure if it is noticeable or not. This photo is so light but you can sort of see the text coming through. I did a gel medium transfer. This technique is fun .....if it works! I've been hesitant to do this on these journal pages because if I messed up it would be a disaster. All I have to say is my little muse took over and said just do it. And it worked! I'm so excited!
There are a few things I did differently then previous tries. The first thing is to use a magazine clipping instead of a printed ink jet copy. The second thing is to put the gel medium on the surface instead of the art to be transferred. Mist the art so it is wet before you lay it down on the gel medium and let it dry completely before you start to rub off the top layer.
I'm going to practice using ink jet copies because I really hate using my magazine clippings. I believe the process will work with copies because I have read that you can use them.
Practice, practice, practice!
I'm still in my PJ's......giggle, giggle, so I have to get moving. My husband wants to look at cars during his lunch break. He is ordering a new company car. yuppppy!
Have a wonderful day!
Hugs

Dia De Los Craftos

Moi, My Friends Margaret & Sara

As promised, here are the pictures of the craft festival "Dia De Los Craftos.
I'm really glad I joined this team. It is a group of artist who are on Etsy but happen to be from San Antonio. People have come and gone since we first formed this summer, but we now have a small core group that get a long really well.
I must note in the picture above with me are my friends who came to support me. They are not members in the Etsy group. My friend Margaret is the best. She tries to come to most of my shows. What would we do without our friends and family?
The purpose of this team is to find and then attend craft shows in our area. We realized that an internet shop was not enough. Our sells dropped this past year on Etsy and felt we needed to do more.
It is a little weird because I used to do shows alone before I got on Etsy. I joined Etsy because I was sooooo tired of doing shows. They are so much work. I have changed my inventory since my early days. I use to sell furniture and vinatage items, now I'm more artsy and crafty. AND having others to share a booth with or even tell you about an event makes it so much easier and much more fun!

Day of the Dead

"The Day of the Dead" also known as "All Souls Day" falls on Nov. 2nd, not to be confused with "All Saints Day" which is on Nov. 1." All Souls Day" is the day to remember the dead.
People honor loved ones who have passed on by building alters with paper flowers and decorated skulls. It is an imaginative and colorful celebration.
There are numerous "day of the dead" festivals happening tonight. I should go to at least one.....but I probably wont. I know I'm being lazy but I was downtown Saturday afternoon and evening for my Etsy's own version of the day of the dead festival. It turned out really nice. I'll post pictures of the "Dia de los Craftos" tomorrow.
Have a great day!
Charlie

The Witch Is In

All I need is my broomstick and then I'll fly off into the night. heheehee insert a witches cackle!
I have tons of work to do to get ready for the big event.
Mostly cooking up a tasty gruel (cupcakes) and then packing up the broom to fly downtown. Here broomy broomstick ....where are you????
Must be hiding. She is a little shy. She only comes out once a year. Gonna have to knock off the cobwebs and give her a good tune up before we leave. She does not like the tuneup.
Now where oh where could she be?
LOL
Well anyway, as I go off to find my broom I hope you all have a wonderful, spooky, fun filled
Happy Halloween

Something Pink

Yesterday I got a creative blog award from Bunny! Thanks Bunny!

I'm to name 7 things about myself that no one would know and then nominate 7 other people to get the award. Most of my friends have done this many times as well. I'll leave it up to all my blogger friends whether or not they want to do this. "You know who you are, if you want to, go ahead and run with it".
Now let me think.....seems I've told so much about myself in my journal that there can't possibly be anything you do not know.
1. I'll take this as an opportunity to vent. I need to vent ever once in a while. This is something you don't know about. #2. I bet you don't know my favorite food is hamburgers. #3. I'm a cheap date lol! I love a big juice greasy burger like this one from my favorite burger joint "Chris Madrid's".

Now this is a burger!

#4. My husband and I go out to eat a lot...I mean a lot, way too much! We eat fast food for lunch most everyday, especially now that he works out of the house. I cook sometimes in the evening but we go out then too. #5. We are empty nesters, what can I say. This is another thing I bet you did not know about me. Back to my venting.....anyway, #6. I think I'm a good judge on food and it's one thing I can complain about. We like to try new restaurants and especially new fast food restaurants. #7. I'm always on the search for a good burger. It's a simple little quest of mine. There seems to be a rash of fast food burger joints moving into San Antonio theses days. One of them is the Krystal Burger. They just moved down here this summer. Sooooo being the hamburger connoisseur that I think I am and loving to try new burger joints my husband and I decided to try this new place.
Let me tell you that Krystal burger is the absolute worst burger I have ever had. Period.
Look up at the top and remember that look when you think of hamburgers. That is what a hamburger should look like. Not a burger divided into four little itty bitty burgers like Krystal's. Not one with a patty so thin you can't even see it and especially not a steamed patty like they do at Krystal's. What is that???? Who steams meat????? Steamed meat would not be so bad. I guess it's healthy. But here's the thing by the time you get to the second little itty burger which is so neatly boxed up it's mushy. YUK!
The bun is soggy and gross. Who wants to eat soggy buns?????? We could not finish them. We threw them in the trash. Take my advise and don't eat at Krystal Burgers. YUKKIE!
Enough of my venting!

Thursday is pink thoughts day for breast cancer awareness. I took this shot especially for this purpose.

"Wild Thing"

Of course I feel I'm a "wild thing"
tee hee at least I used to be. I love to go dancing.

I used a different technique for this page. This technique is especially helpful for incorporating full figure people images in your art. I'm not too confident drawing the human body so I found an image I liked in a magazine and glued it down. The next step is to gesso over the whole image. I used a watered down mixture for the face and arms and a full strength mixture for the dress. Using your creativity comes next. By gessoing over the dress you basically get a blank canvas. You can decorate it however you want. I added more hair to this girl and lightly drew in the facial features.
If you would like to see more of my journal pages look to the right side of this blog scroll down a little and click on any of the links under My Altered Art Journal.

Mad Hatter Tea Party

I'm early with this but Candace is having a mad hatter tea party tomorrow Oct. 24th. Stop by her blog and see whats cooking. It's sure to be mad. teehee.
I'm into digital art and jumped at the chance to combine my love of Halloween and the mad hat.
Thought it would be fun to see what I could come up with. I'm still pretty new at this. It is very addicting. I spend way to much time playing in P.S. I have photoshop elements 6. I'm sure it is a lot easier to work with then regular photoshop. Addicting none the less.
Have a great weekend y'all!
hugs,
Charlie

Breast Cancer Awareness

Something pink on Thursday for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Ladies just do it. Go to your doctor and get your mammies tested. If you are 50 and over, get the mammogram. It's not that bad. It's better to know what's going on with your body then to be in the dark. Toughen up, put your big panties on and go do it.
Hugs,
Charlie

I Am A Super Hero

This is the collage I did for Sherry's zine fundraiser for breast cancer awareness.

I received her lovely Zine Monday. I was very excited to open it up and read everyone's interpretation. I was so nervous. It was a strange feeling. All my old doubts and insecurities crept back into my head. How in the world did I get picked to do this project and l I know I can't write worth a flip. As I read through the pages I was so impressed with each and everyone's thoughts. I then remembered what was going on in my head when I painted this collage. I remembered how I came up with this piece of art. It just hit me. I sort of had a tada experience that yes " I am a super hero". I've come along way to even except this accolade. I have touched other peoples lives. I am someone's hero. I am worthwhile.
It's a lovely zine and all proceeds go to the breast cancer foundation in Canada. You can still purchase it here. So you want to be a super hero.

Hope you are having a super hero kind of day!
Hugs,
Charlie

Dia De Los Craftos

Alamo City Etsy is planning this event for Halloween night. I'll be working the baked goods and information table. It will be fun. If you are in the San Antonio area and don't have plans for Halloween come downtown to the King William district.

Support local artist, support handmade!

Golfing in Port A

Newport Beach & Golf

Here are a few of the photos I took while riding along with my hubby on the golf course. I don't play. I tried a long time ago. I'm not that coordinated. I can't hit the ball straight. It always goes somewhere I don't want it to go, usually in the trees or sand. That's not fun to me. Nope golf is not for me. I'll tag along to take pictures. It's a beautiful sport. The scenery is awesome. I can see why men love the sport, but I'll go when he has no one else to play with. Poor baby! lol.

That's it for now. I'm happy to be home and creating in my little studio. I have pictures to take of new items I'll be listing on Etsy. Then it's on to the other unfinished projects on my easel. I've got a few shows coming up which I need to make product for. The worst part is I have no idea what I want to make. yikes!
Have a happy creative Monday y'all.
Hugs,
Charlie

I'm Back!

Something Pink!

This is my favorite pink house ever. It is in Port Aransas Texas. My husband and I always admire this house when we visit Port A, wondering who lives there and wishing we could own a place like this one day. I'm posting this for something pink for breast cancer awareness month. Sorry I'm late I know I should of done this Thursday but I was in Port Aransas. I took my computer with me this time but I could'nt upload my pictures. Long story which I do not want to get into.
We went on a mini vacay again to our favorite getaway. I feel so guilty and it did not help that I have a ton of work to do. It's not like I needed the rest but my husband did. The weather was in the 90's so we were able to go to the pool and relax. My husband played golf while I took pictures on the second day. I couldn't spend a lot of time on the beach because of the red tide. It really did not bother me except for a little cough. I guess the wind kept the smell of dead fish littered along the beach away because I did not smell a thing. I took some great shots of the golf course which is right on the beach. I'll post a few tomorrow.
I did not forget that today I draw the name of the winner of my giveaway. So without further adieu the winner of my Halloween card is Bunny! She is the owner of a fabulous blog "I'm Just Say'n". It's such a lovely blog to read and visit. Check her out and you will understand what I mean. I love her point of view.
Now that I'm back in my chair and vacation number 4 is over, hopefully I'll get back on my creative stroll.
Y'all have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Charlie

FREE Halloween Digital Collage Sheet

Halloween Silhouettes

Good morning all. I'm feeling generous today. This is for all you digital artist. I'm giving this away. Just for the taking. Click on the image and download to your computer. I hope it's not too late. But somehow I think there are a few procrastinators out there who might still want to use this in their art work.

I woke up this morning realizing it is a Holiday. It's Columbus Day! No wonder my husband has another week off. He gets 5 weeks of vacation each year . Not only is he working out of our home from now on,,,,,, he gets 5 weeks off! This is week number 4 so he still has another week to go! I think I'm going to slit my wrist! He is driving me crazy! The first two weeks of his now work out of the house office setup were ok because he was gone most of the time. But last week he was here all week. Now he is on vacation! Give me a break! please! Don't get me wrong I love my husband dearly but this is too much. I need my space.

The biggest problem so far is whenever he plays on his playstation 3 it knocks me off the internet. I don't know why! I guess since I am only wireless now, (ever since he took over my office.) His playstation is set up on the internet and is wireless also. I'm assuming his stupid game takes over and controls the internet therefore knocking my little ole computer off the net.

Help!

Something Pink

How about some pink pumpkins! I love to manipulate images in P.S.....so much fun!
I'm posting something pink each Thursday during the month of October for Breast Cancer Awareness. Don't forget to get your mammogram!

I hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful month of October. The weather is awesome. Fall is here and Halloween is just around the corner. This is the calm before the storm, because after Halloween everything gets crazy. The holiday season will be on us before we know it. I'd like to make most of my Christmas gifts this year. I always have these good intentions and it's a lot easier said then done. I need ideas. Most of all I need to get busy. Time is so precious. Where does it go?
Don't forget to enter my little giveaway.
Have a great fall y'all!
Hugs

Free GiveAway

OK People! It's time for another Give Away on my part. I have not done this in a long, long time.
It's time to celebrate, time to pay it forward, time to give this cute little card away.
This card is one of my own creations. The girl in the picture is Cinda, a witch I drew, however the background is from a lovely artist itkupilli. This card is a combination of fabric and paper, put together in the scrapbook fashion. In honor of Halloween I will give this card to one lucky person.

Here is the catch.
In order to be entered in the drawing;

#1 You need to leave a comment on my blog. A nice gushy comment would be awesome....lol.
#2 You need to start following me. Not sure I like the sound of that but you know what I mean...follow me on blogger.
# 3 You should link me back to your blog. Make a comment on your blog so other people can find out about this giveaway.

That's all!
I will have the drawing next Saturday October 17th.
Good luck!
Charlie
