Spring Is Here

Spring has sprung! There are tiny little buds coming out on my miniature rose bush. I'm so happy but at the same time I'm swamped with yard work. Oh my! I look around my yard and I don't know where to start. With the worst drought on record last summer and the wettest, coldest winter in a long long time, we have a big mess on our hands. Half of my grass is dead and full of weeds. I have tons of perennials to cut back. I have not had to trim them back in years because we have not had any freezes hard enough to kill them. The oak leaves are falling so I guess  I'll wait until they have dropped  to begin the work. Even with all this complaining I'm really not...if that makes sense. :) I'm soooo ready for spring.

My son and his girlfriend went to the coast for spring break and brought me back this huge bag of shells. They hit the mother load. I love shells and love to look for them. They said the beach was full of them. Now I know, you got to go in spring to get the good sized ones. Not sure what I'm going to do with all these, but I'm sure I will think of something.

Don't laugh but I had to take a picture of the little bit of snow we received this winter. I know it was not much but hey.....when it snows in south Texas it's a big deal.

My yard and my art await me so I must get to work.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful spring.

  1. I can't wait for spring either. I just saw some little green things poking their wee heads out of the ground and I saw a robin this morning so spring is not far off!

I am trying to catch up on Blog visits this moring since I have been out of commission for a few days.

  2. Take your time Charlie...before you know it, you'll be complaining about how hot it is...lol

I know I will. Have a good one!

  3. Oh I just love that snow picture - priceless!

  4. charlie :) you are full of positive energy! it feels so nice to read this post, with all your priceless photos! from the beginning of a new cycle to the thoughtfulness of your son and his gf and the little things in life (like snow) that make you smile ... all lovely thoughts and images, and that is what life should be ... simple and beautiful :) love ya!

  5. Ooohh, your post made me pop out to my garden to see what was stirring, and while I don't have any buds on my roses yet, I do have buds on my clematis! The foxgloves and irises are getting ready for their show and the daffodils are almost in their full glory. I LOVE spring!

  6. It sounds like you have an awful lot to do but oh how wonderful it all sounds, i just can't wait for warmer weather! So enjoy your time outdoors (love the darling roses)!♥

  7. Oh your snow is so cute!!

I do love art and yardwork. Isn't it nice to have that kind of work waiting for you? Although this year the yardwork will take some extra oomph. The winter has made a shambles out of my yard too.

  8. That's almost as much snow as we had here in Toronto this winter!! :)

Love your spring photo...it feels good to know it's almost upon us!!!

Looking forward to seeing what you do with the shells, whether it be in art work or just for decor! I see them in a lovely apothecary jar with some clean white sand!! xo
