Action Painting

Here is my entry for IMT action painting. I have been wanting to try this for a while. I took out my tub of acrylic paints, canvas, paint brushes, rollers, water bottle, tissue paper, and went outside. The first layer of colors are the yellows and light browns and a dab of off white. I splattered and squirted in all directions, then I took the brayer and lightly rolled in one direction. The next layer is the blues, greens and reds. I tore tissue paper and smooched it over the entire canvas. Then rolled over this layer very very lightly because the brayer wanted to grab the tissue paper. I let this dry and then splattered more red to give another dimension. All in all I like the way it turned out. I like the tissue paper effect. It was a lot of fun and will probably use this technique in more of my backgrounds. At this point I'm not sure what else I well do to it, but I know it is not finished. I want to add more elements. I will figure that out as I go.

  2. It definitely looks like you had a great time doing this! You've created great texture and color... perhaps a background for a figure or landscape? Great work:>

  3. I think the red made it pop! Great idea to go outside and enjoy the true light! Thanks for your comment on mine...this really is very cool stuff IMT makes me think and be more artistic. I liked your art in the post before, too!

  7. Hi Charlie, I'm backtracking and catching up on your blog. So many wonderful things you are doing. I have to say I absolutely love this background and I love the poppies you added to it. I so would love to try my hand at that kind of background. It is just a feast for my eyes with all the textures and colors. I just want to dive right in.
