Leson 5 Canvas 2
OK I'm sure everyone is tired of seeing these but they are all I'm working on right now. This one is better.....I guess.
I think I've decided to call this one Hope and the first one Faith. Those names just keep coming back to me. I started this class with faith that I can do this. I know I have a long way to go and a lot to learn. The second one gave me hope that yes maybe I can actually do this. As my fellow blogger friend Patty ask "What are you aware of today?" My answer is...that I am aware of serendipity. Keep looking and you will find it..... Whatever it is. I love happy accidents. I am blessed and on a wonderful journey of self discovery. I'm enjoying the ride and don't want to waste any of it.
Faces Lesson 5
She is coming along nicely. I have to say I'm pleased so far especially since it's my first attempt. I stayed up late last night working on her.The crayons are really fun to work with. One more lesson and she's done. The dress and more elements on the background. She reminds me of my niece. Now on to the next one for more practice. Hope she turns out ok too.
Mexican Petunia
Here is a shot of a pink Mexican petunia from my back yard. I'm still not great at using the macro. I should pull out the tripod, but can't get the hang of using it. This picture is suitable at this level, but if I try to move in closer I need the tripod.
It's Monday and time for the next face painting lesson from Paulette. I think we will be using the painting crayons. This will be interesting since I have never used them before.
I have not posted much art lately because nothing is finished. I have a lot of works in progress right now. I am working on my faces, the next letter"E" for the art journal, my jewelry and I need to finish a mosaic pot. It seems I'm working a little slow, must be the summer doldrums. I feel I need to shake things up a bit, maybe have a backwards day.
Altered Art Journal Letter D
The next installment for my altered art journal is D for Diva. "I need chocolate, flattery & shoes.....
and occasionally spring in Paris."
I'm not sure who the author is but I love that quote.
I would love to be in Paris right now. As it is I'm on hold with the insurance adjuster because I had a little fender bender today. It was not my fault. I was minding my own business trying to find a parking space and someone backed right into me. It's not bad but I want my car fixed. I had a feeling something like this was going to happen. I have had about 3 near misses in the past week. A huge 18 wheeler ran me off the road the other day. And someone else almost hit me. What is bad is none of these people know what they did. Traffic is terrible. People are not paying attention and almost always on the phone while driving. All I can do is thank the Lord that it was not worse, & pray their insurance will pay for it. Now I bet my rates will go up, even though it was not my fault. Blah.....I just want to get away.
Faces
This has been a great class. I am learning so much from Paulette. She is a great instructor. If you do not know I am taking Paulette Insall's face painting class online. I will probably want to take her organic backgrounds class also. I should have done the background class first like everyone else, but I usually do everything backwards anyway.
Arte y Pico Award
I was given the Arte y pico award from Sherry at Esprit d Art last week. She is a great artist and has a beautiful blog so please take a look at her site.
What an honor it has been for me to get two awards in one week. There are so many wonderful blogs and talented people out there, so it comes as a surprise to me that I got these.
Here are the rules for the award;
1. Choose 5 blogs that you consider deserving of this award based on creativity, design, interesting material, and overall contribution to the blogger community, regardless of language.
2. Post the name of the author and a link to his or her blog so everyone can view it.
3. Each award-winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award.
4. The award-winner and the presenter should post the link of the Arte y Pico blog so everyone will know the origin of this award.
5. Please post these rules!
Here are my 5 choices.
Diane at Diane's Arty Antics
Willy at Take Time to Enjoy The Simple Things in Life
Anne at Bulles Dorees
Filetta at A Filetta
Sandy at Stampelchaotin
I enjoy each of these blogs and love to visit them...take a look and at the wonderful art they produce.
Faces
My first attempt at face painting. I painted over the first one on the left because the skin tone was too dark. She looks much better. I decided to do another mainly for practice. The one on the right is ok. I don't think the drawing came out as well. I think I like painting over the eyes and lips and then redo them instead of painting up to the marks and drawing in as I paint. I can't seem to get a good smooth coverage that way. The next lesson is painting the eyes and lips.
Altered Art Journal Letter C
C is for cook or chef... also for comfort food. I did not realize how many good yummy foods start with c. And I can't believe I forgot chocolate. I love chocolate. I'll add it later.
It seems like I'm so behind on my blogging. I got another award from my friend Sherry at esprit d art last week . I am so honored and excited. I will spend the next few days working on that one.
I was gone Thursday and Friday. I was visiting my sisters and mom. They live in a small, small town in Texas. My home town and where I grew up. I'm sure no one has heard of Yoakum Texas. It's kinda out in the middle of nowhere. My sister V. teaches yoga at the fitness center in Yoakum. She was asked to fill in for the Zumba instructor for the summer. YES..... Zumba... in Yoakum. So I attended my first Zumba class. I think it's so funny. I have to go all the way to small town Texas to attend a Zumba class. I really never heard of it before. I'm sure it's nothing new, but I work-out at the local Gold's gym in San Antonio. They do not offer Zumba. But anyway a girl from Venezuela lives in Yoakum and started the Zumba classes there. She is gone for the summer and asked my sister to fill in until she comes back. It is a very fun way to exercise, if you like to wiggle your hips and dance, neither of which I can do very well at all. I guess I'm really behind the times because I have to go back to the sticks to get informed with whats hot and what's not. God help me.
Weblog Award
Wow... my first award... I'm so excited. Thanks to Pattie for giving me this award. I love her blog From The Inside Out. It is her affirmation blog which I read to encourage me with my own affirmations. However her award is on her other blog Artfully yours. It is another wonderful blog to visit.

Altered Art Journal Letter B
B is for bubble bath....
My second page of the art journal. Don't we all love bubble baths? I do.
It has always been my place to escape. I light a candle, jump in and soak until I turn into a prune.
The theme at artygirlz is blue so I thought I'd enter this.
Altered Art Journal Letter A
I started an ABC altered art journal a few weeks ago. I can not remember where I got the idea from but it is an ABC journal about me. Each letter of the alphabet will have to pertain to something about me. For example, A is for Artist.
I started my faces class yesterday. The first week is mainly practicing. I hope to post some of my work from the class as it goes along. Right now there is not much to post. I have not had the chance to do any of the blog challenges lately because my son has been home for a few days from college. He and I have been having a Harry Potter movie marathon. He was too old to read the books when they came out, or he thought he was too old. I have been reading the books and did not want to watch any of the movies until I read them. So he and I have watched the first 4 movies in the past 24 hours. I'm kinda of Harry Pottered out right now. The books are so much better than the movies. But that is the way it always is.
But anyway here is the first pages of my altered art journal which is a journey in itself.
